East Penn Mfg. Co., Inc. (Deka Battery) is seeking an Industrial Battery/Charger Service Technician for the Chicago area requiring some overnight travel.  Requirements include a drivers license and good driving record, strong communication skills, and self motivation.  

Primary responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Perform preventive maintenance services on battery and DC power systems.

Compile maintenance reports, work orders and essential site paperwork.

Coordinate schedules with customer.

Other duties as required my management.

Perform work unsupervised and remotely, when required.

On-call emergency response.

*Maintains regular attendance.
*Ability to work mandatory over time.
Performs other duties as requested by Management.
Responsible for producing a high quality product.
Responsible for proper hygiene, housekeeping, and safety practices.

Education & Experience

• High School diploma required.
• Technical degree or training preferred.
• Previous experience in technical field.
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, and standard office equipment.
• Battery knowledge preferred.

Skills & Qualifications

• Basic electrical knowledge and mechanical ability (AC/DC is a plus).
• Strong written and oral communication skills with technical background.
• Maintain a consistent and positive customer service image.
• Knowledge and experience working with both hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and understand specifications, detailed drawings and technical standards.
• Organizational skills, ability to multitask.
• Problem solving / analysis skills.
• Proficient with computer software, including internal systems and Microsoft office, etc.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Willingness to travel when necessary.
